Re. Outsourcing

Let's not forget that India is one of the most class conscious societies in the world.

What this means is that anyone who is familiar with a keyboard and programming language is automatically relegated
to a status similar to a tailor: "a person who knows how to operate a sewing machine is similar to someone who knows how to program a computer". Of course that attitude is prevalent in the US too, everywhere except at Microsoft and the Open-source movement.

I worked recently with an offshore team with 8 youngsters who knew how to draw UML diagrams (of dubious worth) and bs with clients. Of those, only 1 really knew what problems lay ahead - he was low down in the hierarchy (a tailor) so he had liitle say in the midst of his "superiors". I don't know what the outcome was, but I don't think it was satisfactory. Unless the outsourcing is in a subsidiary - I expect the results to be bad.

Is it no wonder that it is impossible to get a flight schedule from 2 cities from the sites of 2 of India's major airlines:
