Tim,

re: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

All speculation.

The fact is that every US president since WW2 has managed to get NATO support, and often troops, for their military adventures. And with a few exceptions, things have gone pretty well.

This president, through arrogance and a total lack of diplomatic skill, managed to alienate a large percentage of our allies, and things are not going at all well. You can say that is coincidence or you can invent reasons why things would have been even worse with our allies support, but that's all speculation.

If it's humanitarian, which seems to be the neocon post-justification du jour, then maybe you get NATO support. As our traditional allies read correctly, there was no immediate threat, no urgency. These are facts, not speculation.
