To the contrary, it seems apparent that the Democrat party is continuing to self destruct. Frankly, they are self destructing at a faster pace today than they were a few months ago.

I think Zell Miller has it about right; i.e., the Democrats have moved to the extreme left, and the American people DO NOT WANT extreme leftists in office.

The polls don't support your position. The only real support Bush has in the GOP and even that's beginning to slide in some areas of his administering. Frankly, its extremist rightwing politics to which many Americans are beginning to object. Hypocrites like Bennett and Rush are just speeding the process along.
