Asked whether he would trade his $US7 billion fortune to unseat the President, Mr Soros opened his mouth. Then he closed it. He wrinkled his brow. The proposal hung in the air: Would he become poor to beat Mr Bush?

"If someone guaranteed it," he said.

You call that fanaticism?

Al, as usual, I can tell the difference between concern over the law of unintended consequences, and fear of a new Third Reich. Those who exploit the latter are trying to impress upon those who can't tell the difference.

By the way, more evidence of Soros' fanaticism:

Maybe he is speaking fanatically because there are too many complacent people out there.

And while we are speaking fanatical, what about DR? He's becoming more and more fanatical like the good ideologue that he is. Why does his fanaticism not bother you?
