1. provide a good example

A "good example" of exactly what, Jacob? Appeasement? timidity?

Always deferring the SELFISH interests of those who would undermine international law and assist in perpetuating a brutal regime creating regional instability?

Do you see people fleeing the US to live overseas because it's such a "poor example"?

2. a purely defensive military posture

So wait until we're attacked until we take any military action, right? Don't do anything that might "provoke" potential enemies, right? Don't defend any foreign nations from their aggressive neighbors, right (because our defending would be considered aggression, as in the case of N. Korea)??

And what about terrorist attacks? After all, the Taliban didn't attack us, now did they? There only "crime" was being friends with a group of non-state actors who did attack us..

Terrorist groups have no soveriegn borders, nor national flags. They act as offensive weapons for countries who are afraid of directly attacking the US. They hide within other countries, sometimes within our own. When they attack, how do we defend ourselves except by turning our own country into an isolationist fortress, keeping all the "bad foreigners" out??

3. don't get on the wrong side of nationalist wars

Wrong side?.. or No side? And makes that decision?

Why are we backing the creation of a Palestinian state? A state who's primary leadership is incredibly corrupt, tolerant of terrorism, and shows every intent of being just as aggressive once provided statehood?

And why AREN'T we backing Kurdish statehood, since they are the largest ethnicity without a soveriegn state?

4. a global Marshall Plan and HeartsAndMinds campaign

So just give them money, right? Give money to the non-democratic regimes? No accountability? No US expectations? Just give it away, right? Because telling them what to do is a form of imperialism, isn't it?

And what makes you believe that other nations even WANT the US to execute such a "winning strategy"?

And what agenda do our global rivals have which might undermine this "winning strategy"?

Overall your "winning strategy" very naive Jacob.. and certainly not consistent with global realpolitik, or even human nature.

It completely ignores the evil that exists out there on this planet. An isolationist foreign policy will take us right back to exactly where we were before the world wars, a growing dangerous militant ideology infecting the predominant religioun on the planet, and now one willing to confront it before becomes unmanagable..

Is that what you want Jacob? To ignore the problem until it grow so big that millions of lives on all sides must be lost in a "clash of civilizations"?

The Islamo-Facists are coming for us Jacob.. even up there in Anchorage.. Read what they say, for god's sake.. There telling us what they plan on doing on their way to restoring the Caliphate..

They recognize that to achieve victory for their agenda, they must destroy the pretector of the current global order, the United States.

Take out the US, or force it to retreat from terrorist tactics, and no other nation on the planet will be willing to stand up to them..
