Doesn't make much difference to me personally, but Elroy's broad-brush figures about a certain real estate company are wrong, and the real facts are easily searchable on the internet...not at the site he references, though.

I can only speak for myself, but I've never bought or sold a house due to a realtors efforts - the transactions would have occurred (gladly) without a realtor. Every real estate transaction I've ever been involved in has all sorts of "necessary professionals" coming out of the woodwork with their hands out wanting their cut. It might have been on the square once, but now it's just another "professional" racket, where folks wearing suits and driving large automobiles conspire to fix fees and stifle competition.
