I can't find where I read it, but thinking about it, I think you are probably right. If the customers are stretched, the spike between the 14th and 15th should be more noticeable. The implication in the article was that buyers are not in a good shape. Paradoxically, in part the lack of liquidity happened because of low interest rates. People bought more houses and cars, and that killed their liquidity. Other things, like increase in the price of gasoline, were also blamed.
