5000 pulled from a NYTimes article last week. They were talking hard core baathists and foreign fighters only as opposed to some are going with which way the wind was blowing. Of course among sunnis in parts of bagdad and faluja and tikrit there is popular support for the insurrection but not folks necessarily willing to die for it. Mike
