For being spineless. After all, why pass a law that no one is going to respect? Why make demands of a vanquished enemy that you never plan on enforcing? Why pay dues to an organization that can't, or more appropriately, WON'T enforce its own resolutions? But hiding behind it? Hardly.. Trying to hide behind the UN is like trying to hide behind a hologram.. It looks real enough, but has little substance..We are entering the "cut and run" stage of the invasion of Iraq. I wouldn't get your hopes up.. Although that's what we all know you really want.. I don't believe the US, or regional neighbors of Iraq, are going to permit whatever new government comes to power, to become a threat. Nor will they stand by and permit a Islamo-Fascist state to come to power. But the battle has ALWAYS been for the Iraqi people to ultimately fight, including Kurds and Shiites. And given that most of the terrorist acts in the country have occurred in Sunni territory, there's still a tremendous role for the US to play in Shiite and Kurdish regions.Meanwhile, real threats remain almost completely unattended -- like North Korea. Unattended? Hardly.. Out of the public eye? Yes.. Which is what needs to happen there. Kim Jong Il LOVES being in the headlines. He loves any kind of press he can get because he figures that it means other world leaders are having to pay attention to him.. And in case you've forgotten, this was a UN war. And it's a UN cease fire accord. But once again, who's been required to foot the bill and manpower to back up the peace? I mea, what has the UN done lately on the Korean peninsula to bring that cease fire it signed to a peace treaty? Why is it the responsibility of the US to carry this burden, and not Kofi Annan's??
