Hello el_gaviero, <<how does China deal with the problem of oil>>

... I am involved in a scheme to broker some regular crude shipment to China, and so far Chinese oil companies simply bid for the oil on the open market in exchange for moolah, obviating the need to engage in regime changing, premptive attacking, constitution authoring, and such involved activities as figuring out what is the optimum flying height of helicopters in an environment of shoulder-fired missiles and pistachio grove-hidden rocket-propelled grenades.

<<Yearly oil consumption, per capita, in the USA is about 30 barrels>> ... I will take your estimate for this.

<<In China it’s about --- what? --- half a barrel?>> ... I can find out but my guess is much less than 30 barrels.

<<No way China gets anywhere near our level before we all go over the top and start downhill on Hubbert’s roller-coaster>>

... I think this is a good and healthy assumption, but I guess I can be surprised pleasantly, although I must not count on being surprised thus;0)

In the mean time, my portfolio composition speaks to my assumptions about the future achamchen.com :0)

The future will be very exciting and SI will be very interesting :0)

Without getting too exotic and fanciful, there is the possibility of coal-to-liquid conversion technologies (SASOL is in negotiation in China, and China, like the US, has a gabillion years of coal reserve). Getting a bit more fanciful, there is also the possibility of China discovering large domestic pool of petroleum (much of China’s west is unexplored).
