Very close race,l'm sure Jindal would have won if he was not of Indian origin.

Jindal is a bright guy. He will win next time (in whatever he choses to contest). In such a short time he has built up a stellar resume - something very very few people can boast of.

I may not agree with all his proposed policies, but a pragmatic voter would be more inclined to vote for him instead of idealogy.

PS: From what I hear, there were pissed of Right Wing Republicans who did not support him (just because they hated previous republican governer who happened to back Jindal)
