I totally disagree with the venerating of those who endured the Great Drepression as somehow morally or socially or any other way superior to people facing economic dislocation today with the damning fatalism and unbelievable dispair you seem to espouse as unavoidable and in such solemn dispairing tones.

To view individual humans collectively in such a damning epithet is pityful and rather surprising coming from such a moral highground claimant as you purport yourself to be, from your lofty perch as a participant in the problem, i.e., unconscionable assistance in the Home Mortgage 125% + refi biz model from your corner bank office.

Perhaps you are speaking from your own moral and sociatal weakened viewpoint of impotence???.

I chose to believe that humans are adaptable creatures, to whatever financial circumstance they find themselves in. I further believe that community-ism, vigilate-ism, Wyatt Earp-ism, or even Me Tarzan/you Jan--neanderthalian forces come to bear upon humans caught up in ANY economic dislocation, which externally enforce and impute social/moral or whatever other behaviors are desireable to preserve and propagate the species and the rebuilding of that system.

One only has to look at the OTHER societies/cultures who have suffered terrible "economic dislocations" over the millenia to find replete examples of humane courage, ethics, morality, social responsibility, religious tolerance, and economic re-habilitation to see the paucity of confidence YOU stated, and reject your didactic declaration as NOT being truth...far from it!
