It's also interesting that Bush said recently that there was no connection between Saddam and al Qaeda (correcting Cheney), but we now have a leaked CIA memo dated just last month contending in detail exactly the opposite!

That would be how you understood it maybe, but it's not what Bush said.

He stated "there's no evidence" that there was a connection between Saddam and 9/11. But that denotes a current LACK of credible evidence, not that they have evidence asserting he had no role.

It's going to take months to years to sort out all the linkages the Baathist regime had with NUMEROUS nations and groups around the globe. The fact that the Iraqi intelligence files rival those of the Stasi has probably got Sunnis throughout the "triangle" sweating about being exposed as informants to Saddam's regime.

And I think maybe a bit of that would be healthy at this moment. Make Iraqis focus their anger on those who supported or cooperated with Saddam and take their minds off this insane conspiracy that the US is there to occupy them.

OT -- > Maybe it's harsh calling Bush a liar. Being a dimwit is sort of exculpatory.
