Hi Sidney. Yes this one seems to be along the same line as God saying "Adam, where are you?" God knew exactly where Adam was hiding and why he was hiding. I think these types of things were written for the benefit of the readers. I think it "grieved" God in the sense that He purposed us to experience both good and evil so that we would know His righteousness. He shows us Himself by contrast. He showed us at our worst(ie 8 people out of the entire world saved in the flood) in contrast to Christ who is perfection. He had to prove to us we needed a savior.

The people of Noah's day had no rules to go by. They had no 10 commandments. I think God showed us that when we "govern" ourselves, we are completely lost and wicked and in need of Him.

Interesting choice of words in Gen. 6:6.

I can only answer some scriptural questions with this wonderful passage from Romans chapter 11:

33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!
34 For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor?

Have a great week Sidney!
