I have the same problem with my laptop. If it's on all day, when it goes into hibernation, it comes back with a black screen.

I'm guessing it has something to do with resources at the end of a long day and the hibernation program getting in at the end.

I thought Win XP was supposed to eliminate the resources problems.

Just a guess.

I just checked my settings. I don't have the hibernate enabled. I do have the "turn off monitor" set to "after 20 minutes." I have always had this set like this and never had a problem before. Usually after the 20 minutes, the screen goes completely black, but all I have to do is move the mouse to get it back. Now, all of a sudden this problem where I can't get the screen back just started. I will try Sultan's trick of hitting the "enter" key and see if that does anything.
