Well Grace, Even the old Mafia used to let the poor saps they shook down for protection money keep more than that. Welcome to the new millenium/new world order/or whatever this deficit/tax to death regime is all about, I'm still trying to figure-ng If I spend all my business money I pay less taxes and If I dont I pay more-Why is that?

Grace, didn't mean to be condescending to you or the poor. The crux of my thinking is that there are only so many good jobs to go around, so that for every person who pulls herself up out of poverty there's another who's sliding into it. (Don't take this literally, I know about 'growth', but for all the growth we've had these past 200 years, the poor are still with us).

I agree that working at a mcjob is infinitely better for one's self-esteem than receiving a handout, but you sure can't afford health insurance, for example:

As for the winning side, I'm not exactly sure, but how about ten times that median 28K?

Anyway, I'll give leave you the last word on this -- nobody here agrees with me anyway, <g>
