Looks like Oliver Stone was right. The exact culprits may never be exposed, but clearly Hoover was trying to squash the investigations into the JFK assassination, denying help to the Warren Commission and destoying evidence, etc. Hoover was mixed up with both the mob and the right-wing. Could have been a two-way or three-way conspiracy. Looking at motive, means and opportunity you'd have to go with those suspects. Hoover and the Mob - JFK and Bobby wanted them both taken down which they considered betrayals since Joe Kennedy had mob ties. Hoover was like a dictator and would have probably killed anyone who threatened his career. Right-wing arms and oil powers - same ones who are in power now, and we've seen how ruthless, above the law and secretive they can be. CIA - those right-wing Cuban anti-communist types were/are still very ruthless and tied in with the previous groups.
