NO, in fact DOD confirms that information in the memo came from intelligence agencies, names them, and adds that these agencies cleared the written memo for for release to the Senate Intelligence Committee. Re: "They made it up then "leaked" it as if it was a DoD sanctioned belief when it's just a fairytale." LOL, it's hard to make up a story published in Newsweek back in '98, and if Newsweek can catch wind of the allegation back then, it is more than plausible that our intelligence agencies had all the testimony cited in the memo, for real, all along. Seems rather ludicrous to presume that Al Qaeda's presence in Iraq following years of Osama defending Iraq verbally, along with the varied information given to the Senate Intelligence Committee aren't clues with some bearing. Draw your own conclusion, but the one you have so far drawn appears to have no basis. Re: "Are you trying to believe that the statement says there was a connection? It does not." Nope, not me. That statement, i.e. the DOD response to the leak of the memo, says that the leak may be criminal, that the information in it is the real information provided to the Senate Intelligence Committee, and that no conclusions are drawn. Unfortunately for your hypothesis, what is revealed in the memo is that we have received testimony going back to the early 90's indicating there is a connection between Al Qaeda and Iraq(a connection which is somewhat detailed). Conclusions such as a direct Iraq link to 911 are not drawn, just long-standing information provided Dan B.
