MONROVIA, Calif. & PARIS, Nov 18, 2003 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- SeeBeyond (SBYN) , provider of the world's first integrated composite application network built on a comprehensive integration platform, today announced that it has been selected by Air Command Systems International (ACSI) to provide a comprehensive integration solution for NATO's new Air Command and Control System (ACCS), which will replace the NATO Air Defense Ground Environment -- installed in the 1970s.
The SeeBeyond platform will provide the connectivity to link together approximately fifty different package software solutions with end-to-end automation, management and monitoring of processes, including the upgrade or replacement of a number of existing automated, semi-automated, and manual systems currently in use integrating people, processes and systems.
As a part of the program, ACSI will develop a System Test and Validation Facility (STVF), designed to develop and test the ACCS core software, including the development of new standards-based components and the reuse of existing ones. Requirements for STVF include open architecture and an emphasis on commercial packaged applications that allow for both flexibility and ease of maintenance. Features such as ease of deployment and rollout to other sites, interoperability between control systems, data and process integrity, as well as strong business process management capabilities were also key requirements.

District of Columbia Launches Electronic Procurement System Leveraging SeeBeyond Platform; Solution Forecasted to Save $60 Million Annually 11/18/2003 8:06:00 AM
MONROVIA, Calif., Nov 18, 2003 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- SeeBeyond (SBYN) , provider of the world's first integrated composite application network built on a comprehensive integration platform, today announced the successful implementation of an electronic procurement system by The District of Columbia ("DC Government"). The system is the first in a series of improvements that will be instituted under the DC Government's Administrative Services Modernization Program (ASMP) and is leveraging the SeeBeyond platform as the foundation of its infrastructure.
The newly installed Procurement Automated Support System (PASS) empowers the Office of Contracting and Procurement (OCP) to deliver services to its customers quickly and seamlessly, taking advantage of automated systems, unprecedented access to information, and enhanced processes and procedures. PASS relies on the SeeBeyond platform, and in particular the eInsight(TM) Business Process Manager, to provide the OCP with a complete view into its business processes and to enable the seamless flow of information among its 1,100 users and more than 2,700 vendors. By December 2003, PASS will serve all 60 District agencies and 1,600 users, enabling all with immediate and unfettered access to the more than 200 catalogues and 60,000 items.
A primary goal of the ASMP has been to eliminate costly point-to-point interfaces while supporting the organization's electronic commerce activities. With the scalable and distributed integration architecture from SeeBeyond, DC Government is now able to respond to constituents and vendors in a more cost-effective and timely manner, while significantly reducing the cost to do so. In FY04 and FY05, the organization predicts an initial net savings of more than $60 million, evidence that the SeeBeyond integration solution is a strategic component of the overall I/T infrastructure.
The business processes managed by the OCP through the new system include requisition, issuance of purchase order numbers, proper approvals as part of the workflow process, and real-time funds check and commit of funds within three to six seconds. A primary benefit of the new system is its speed, allowing the OCP to achieve and maintain real-time interactions with its suppliers and stakeholders.
But beyond the speed and effectiveness of the PASS system, the District of Columbia's ASMP will set an exemplary standard for responsiveness and cost-savings by local government agencies. The five-year ASMP project cost which includes implementation and support for business transformation and new systems for Procurement, HR, Payroll, Time & Attendance, Benefits Administration, Pension Administration, Recruitment and Hiring, Budget & Planning, and Property Management, is forecasted at $71.5 million. During the five-year project rollout, the District is forecasting savings of $150 million, bringing the initial net savings to $78.5 million. Beyond the initial value derived, the DC Government expects to save taxpayers $60 million a year.
"The District of Columbia implementation and its impressive ROI are an excellent example of how local government can extract value from existing legacy mainframe systems by investing in an integration infrastructure that delivers long-term savings and real-time benefits for their customers and partners," said Carv Moore, president and COO of SeeBeyond. |
