I don't know where anyone really has a difference of opinion on this. Everyone wants low prices, free markets and continued innovation.

You can drive to Canada or Mexico and buy your drugs. Happens every day. No law against it. Do you think GM charges the same for a sedan in Toronto, and Mexico City and LA? If it makes sense to you, drive up to Canada and buy your car there too. Or maybe you want a law forcing GM to price its cars the same everywhere.

There are a handful drug related R&D institutions, pharmaceuticals, microbiology and biotech labs in India that are poised to a breakout (Indian Software Industry success will be considered a thing of past).

If that happens, they will be offering drugs at a substantially (read dramatically) lower prices throughout the world in not so distant future.

That will knock wind of the sails of legislation being passed to support corporate cronyism in favor of pharma giants.

Protectionism is not equal to capitalism. The current system is protectionism, this new drug plan is protectionism. There is no free market cost driver whatsoever.
