All I jobs are going overseas and we allow the corporate executives to receive huge bonuses when they do this...
I fired off a four page letter to Michael Dell at Dell, Inc. this weekend.
I bought my daughter a new laptop for law school and Dell promised a rebate....waited four months to receive it and finally decided I wasn't going to let him cheat me out of this. Called Dell... they told me to call the rebate company that they had nothing to do with the rebate (Funny it was they who promised it but now they had nothing to do with it and I was to take it up with them). Called rebate company...and guess what? They said they had never received the request. Called Dell back up and they give me the run around..then they tell me the check had been sent. Then I reminded them that they said I never sent in the request and to give me proof of check being cashed by me...never heard from Dell again!!!!! Guess this is their way of telling me to buzz-off..we screwed you!"

Then I happened to check my Visa statement last Friday...and out of the blue...Dell charged my account with $140.00. I called the 800#..got a lady that didn't speak English that could be understood by William Safire, much less myself. I still told her my problem...and she tried, and I think she said I would have to talk to another department to get my account credited...so she transfers me..and I get a man this time that couldn't speak English. ..still I told him my problem...I was able to understand that ..Yes! Dell have made a mistake...BUT, I would have to talk with another department to get my money...so he attempts to transfer me to the THIRD department...after waiting 10 minutes, I give up and call the corporate headquarters directly..was put on hold for nearly 10 minutes before I got live operator who rudely took my request to speak to someone in corporate department by telling me that there was no one available to talk with me and she transfered me to a recording that said leave my name and phone number and someone would call be back immediately...that was three days ago...

I'm glad my daughter is going to be a lawyer...and I know where her first case will be ....

I think part of the reason why people are feeling complacent is the abundance of credit. I know a friend whose mortgage is about 4 times the annual income and YET, he keeps getting these gold/platinum credit-card invitations. His job is shaky and many of his coworkers have seen their jobs shipped abroad. For a while he thought that it was a mistake -- until he called up and was able to get two credit cards in one month, with credit limits of 25k or more.
