Now even with a promise of a quick handover of control to the Iraqis, I doubt Bush could persuade either France or Germany to send troops. They're enjoying watching him squirm, too much.

Marco Calamai, the Italian representative to the coalition in Iraq, resigned today. Basically, he said Bush and Bremer don't know what they're doing and don't understand the Iraqi culture.

Soon we will be all alone in Iraq.
