JF, Jeez, sure sounds like a crusade on your part.
It's a crusade on their part.

That's what you and many others are denying. And no amount of politically correct slogans like "Islam is a religion of peace" or "They're just resisting oppression" is going to change that fact.

All you want to do is deny what they believe, or denounce those who call it like it is as nuts.

Do you think Muslims are not human; that they don't want what we want?

Ten,

re: It's a crusade on their part.

Bull crap.

We are trying to export our culture to their region. Do you see them trying to make the US a Muslim religious state!?! Take a moment and think about it, assuming that was their intent, what are the odds of that happening?

They want us the hell out of their region. We are Christian and we are the military super power, and the perception is that we are imposing our political will on each and every Muslim and Arab nation. Of course they are resentful, as we would be if the tables were turned. And in a small (but growing, as we increase our incursion) percentage of people that resentment turns to hate and violence, as it would anywhere. The Arabs are hard wired with pride and very deep and intricate cultural and religious traditions.

You are seeing a gray world in black and white relief, and that's dangerous. We are the ones imposing, they are reacting.

A whole different argument can be made that it's necessary to be politically active in the region to secure our flow of oil. But to do that, you have to admit that this is economic and selfish, that "it's all about the oil". There you can find justification; right or wrong is another argument.

But if you start saying that we are defending ourselves from Muslim evangelism, I don't think too many are going to take you seriously.
