I was watching a conferee thing on CSPAN last nite regarding the Cheney Energy Bill and what a joke.

Rep. Ed Markey of Mass asked the chair from LA about $18 billion in US Loan Gauarantees to the oil companies for LNG pipeline to run from Alaska to Chicago or to West Coast. The chair had no friggen idea what it was about. He was stuttering and the lobbyist had to keep whispering in his ear -- as to what to say to Markey.

...it was a farce at ALL levels, and simply beyond comprehension watching these guys squirm as they described what they thought they were talking about. The bill is simply a PORK handout to BIG BIZ oil polluters.

The Cheney bill will certainly be defeated. It is nothing more then a wish list for the Petrochem industry. One request after another -- 90% of which is invalidating or gutting previous legislation designed to protect the consumer and the environment.

"Double DUI" Cheney should be jailed.

STOP CALLING THEM ENVIRONMENTAL GROUPS

The congress has passed an energy bill. Environmental groups are calling it a "disaster." Does this mean that it is a disaster for our environment? No, it doesn't mean that at all. What it means is that it is good for capitalism. It's good for the American economy.

Remember ... at the end of the cold war, the left, the world socialist movement, had to look for a new home. Socialism and communism were discredited. Capitalism had prevailed. The anti-capitalist crowd was looking for refuge, and they found that refuge in the environmental movement. Even Gorbachev himself now fancies himself to be a world environmental leader. So, when you hear "environmental groups" bleating and whining about an energy bill ... you can assume that something good has happened for the cause of economic liberty and commerce.
