<The Military has always been a bastion of conservatism and Religion. They deal in death, and use the Church to justify and solace themselves. If you were in that business, you might too.>

Lindy, my father spent 4 years in WWII, killing German soldiers. I've got his diary. He had zero time for the unctuous hypocrisy of the religious cant. I don't think I would either.

<I just shake my head when you go into one of your UN rants. Why you think the Kiwis or anybody else would do a better job of running the world than they do of their country is beyond me >

Actually, from what I've seen of the world, it might not be all bad if the rest of the world was like New Zealand, despite my extensive criticism of it. Of course, the rest of the world is NOT like New Zealand, so it's a silly hypothetical idea.

On who runs the internet. I think the people who made it and own the wires and computers and stuff should run it. If other people want to build their own, they are free to do so. I own my computers and wires and bit of spectrum and I don't want anyone telling me how to use them. Certainly not some amalgam of religious cranks in some other country or in the UN or NUN.

I envisage competition to the NUN and UN and USA and Helengrad as people escape into the freedom of cyberspace. It's going to become a new 'country' with It's own money, identities, values and discipline. It'll be an abstract world, touching the 3D world only where our physical needs exist.

Politicians will of course want to be Big Boss, get the money, and tell people what they can and can't do.
