Ira..there may be a solution to you XP-Pro problem.

I have been using XP-Pro since release...well actually..before as a beta tester...anyway try these steps to give that program real-time performance:

1. Start the offending program or action.
2. Right click your lower taskbar and select and open Task Manager
3 Select and go to Processes Tab
4.Find the program or process you want to "control".
5. Right click on that program or process and select set priority
6.Select High....then close Task Manager and run the program or process....if that doesn't help then go back and instead of selecting high, select Realtime. That probably will help you. After running the process or program go back and change it to normal if it is still open. If it doesnt show there, the program closed, and you need do nothing further.

There is one other possibility for your problem. If the above does not solve the problem, you may not have enough memory. DVD burning requires a lot of free memory. 500MB is probably the minimum. Another possibilty is that the DVD burner was not set up properly. However, if simply rebooting solves the problem it would appear the DVD device has been set up ok.
Hope this helps. Ed
