re: Equatorial Guinea:

Our de facto oil policy, today and for the last 50 years: garrison the oil fields, or pay some thug to do it for us. Don't conserve; don't develop sustainable alternatives; promote "stability" over freedom.

I predict: if Eq. Guinea becomes an oil producer, and if the pro-American ThugInCharge is threatened, we will use our CIA and army and "aid", to prop him up. We will train the torturers, make excuses for the murderers, be endlessly gullible about every transparent excuse. We will re-cycle the same tired excuses we've used since the 1890s.
