Besides my "female intuition" is the unforgettable experience of financing my own (and family) health insurance since 1986.

For the self-employed, that, as you well know, has always been "the only option."

"Grouping up" has been rendered impossible for nigh on 20 years, in my direct experience -- maybe much longer -- by the Feds and the States. The insurance industry employs tens of thousands of number crunchers to research how to close every single loophole, in their view, that might allow the self-employed to "group up."

Biggest profit margin -- without "growth limits," of course -- is from all of us classified as "individual" premium-payers.

WOW: do we "add up" to contribute to the bottom line. For the CEOs, of course. Insurance slugs (employees) make below average wages/compensation. Also my experience from very early career years.
