Al, as usual, I'm not impressed by your desire to quote a book you yourself do not believe in, except whenever it supports your world view.

In any case, I totally believe people themselves ought to be generous and prodigal in helping others less fortunate. I don't believe that spirit ought to be forced upon them by government, especially one that is increasingly becoming secularized, for better or for worse.

Note - The quote doesn't say "He that hath two coats, let the government take from him to impart to him that hath none; and he that hath meat, let the government do likewise. "
