Lizzie, I certain hope that the American people are wise enough, and enough polling places are uncorrupted enough, so that we can toss George Bush out on his ear in 2004. That said, I think you may be making too much of these polling results. Here's some sobering history on just how useful these early polls are. I.e. absolutely worthless as a predictive tool: moore-info.com OTOH, this same well respected Republican polling firm believes that Dean is a real threat to the Shrub in 2004: moore-info.com
