as RichRussell says, gold will take the fewest believers
that might not include you

valuating gold miners is a difficult task
some get pre-occupied by earnings
dunno if you are working off resource deposit value models
since you are a sharpie, you probably are

I expect steady new discoveries all over the place
and renewal of old stalled projects with quick new production

and I expect claims of over-valuation for the next few years

I dont know how you can claim the miners are discounting high 4-handles now
that seems like a comment off the top of your head

I believe HUI and largecap miners are discounting an explosive upmove in gold
like a $20-30 move in the next 2-3 months

I have been pounding the table for two months now
claim of DANGEROUS PHASE #2 IN USDOLLAR DECLINE
marked by Asian participation
JYen is 92.42 now on cash market
it is pushing toward my intermediate 95 target
next on the radar will be Asian import product price inflation
just a matter of several more weeks

is GOLD factoring the arrival of Asian imported inflation yet?
I dont think so, not yet !!!

<<<if gold were to spend 2004 just "digesting" a 4-handle, i can't help but think the miners are headed for an "accident".

agreed - too many have forgotten how difficult the early part of this year or late summer 2002 turned out to be for the precious metal shares...

regarding the etf, i decided not to wait...and have been accumulating the central fund and in canada the millenium bullion fund.

last November, i wrote:

i will look to get back into NEM in the low 30s; FCX in the 20s; GSS in the 3s; IAG in the 4s

well, now FCX is in the 20s after topping out in the high 40s. i am buying in a bit here again after getting stopped out last week. NEM safely back in the 30s, it seems, though not yet the low 30s. GSS has a way to go, imo. IAG back in the 4s, but i don't know if it's worth buying anymore [edit: oh well, i'll stick a toe in the water here as well].

i sold too early before and now i'm perhaps buying too early here, but will proceed slowly.
