lt-

there are a LOT of americans urging just
this kind of action. some democrat candidates
are considering actions like this and
legislation to restrict international trade
without certain wage and worker guarantees
for foreign workers to level the playing
field. i don't think they realize the long
term consequences to our marketplace. it
could well shut down - most of the world
is already mad at us for our political/military
arrogance - if we add economic arrogance
it's not going to help things.

i don't have the answers. i haven't studied
the possibilities but i know one thing is certain...
the world is economically interconnected now
and the law of supply and demand will dictate
that lower prices, whether they be from lower
labor costs or higher productivity via
innovative technology, will win the money.

it is important for americans to realize that
they must compete globally for trade and for
employment. there are a lot of people around
the world who have been starving and working
for a dollar a day or less for decades. that
is some awesome competition.

americans won't work for less until they experience
starvation and our global dominance in technology
has been ignored and neglected as our most promising
economic asset since the current administration
took office.

"it's the economy stupid" has an important and much more
global meaning than ever before and the bushco doesn't
have a clue what that means except on a personal
level for the rich. this country is going down
because a handful of terrorists from starving
countries have incited exactly the behavior they
set out to incite - "political/military and economic
belligerence." we're quickly becoming the world's biggest
monster. five and a half billion enemies is a lot of
competition. we can't mow down the whole world with
weapons of mass destruction.

ay carumba!

the revolutionary information age is here. knowledge
is globally available almost instantaneously. in the world
of business, innovation, manufacturing, service and trade
it is the single biggest economic asset one can possess and
it now belongs to everyone everywhere. he who works hardest
and smartest benefits most.

damn... just when i was almost ready to retire.
