If you sign up at Costco stores for the "Executive Membership", you're entitled to a rebate on real estate services when buying or selling. Same when you're a USAA member, and probably many others.

These companies decided to get in on the real estate pie by getting willing brokers and agents to join their referral network. Costco takes a percentage of the agent's commission, keeps part of it for Costco and gives the rest to the buyer or seller.

<<<Why would I go to a stranger who is even more ignorant? >>>
He'll split a commish with you. I know people who themselves found their houses and later obtained a buyers agent just to get a piece of a buyers agent's commission. Their criteria for choosing an agent was "how much will you give me?".

I think that's wonderful. Beating whores at their own game.
