Hmm.. then why have a UN in the first place if it's nothing more than mere bluster?

So far as I'm concerned UN resolutions passed under Chapter VI (non-binding) are political. This would include resolutions such as 242 (1967 cease fire).

But Chapter VII resolutions (Binding and primarily backed by authorized coercive means, including sanctions and military force) are not merely political. They are passed with the effective force of international law.

So I find it amazing that you would consider those resolutions which involve requiring Iraq to comply with its cease fire obligations to be merely "political".

But perhaps, of course, that would explain why so many folks like yourself are so upset with the current administration. Bush called your bluff and forced you all to stand by your hollow rhetoric..

The bottom line is to never pass a law that you don't want enforce.
