Bush, at best, has a 5 point lead and more like two/three if elections were held today. Polls support that math.

His support among PUBS is HUGE (85%+, although some very slight erosion of very late, very slight from 95+%); whereas his support among DEMS is nill wherein his "INTOLLERABLE" numbers are getting near record.

Meaning those who don't support him are not only growing, but their feelings go deep. These folks are not likely to be ever won over.

The country is polarized -- no question, and most (almost all) can be explained by 5th grade geography.

The DEMS would be well advised to look at 2000 (and part of 2002) election and chase down the three to five states (w/high electoral) that they essentially lost due to Nadar.

Find a popular/common theme that would appeal to these particular states. Environmental or Labor issues come first to mind.
