Recovery disk under XP is a console you run as command:

RUN
MMC


OK I figured out MMC stands for Microsoft Management Console. But from a quick review of the capabilities of Microsoft Management Console it sure looks like the Windows Recovery Console capabilities supplied by Microsoft on the Windows XP system CD is a lot more useful for fixing problerms when Windows XP won't boot.
