Your ad hominem attacks aside and contrary to the old joke, when you assume, you only make an ass out of yourself. I actually have serious misgivings about the Energy bill, primarily because of the pork in it, much of which is there to satisfy Democrats, BTW.

As for Medicare, the GOP is giving the public what it demanded - a prescription drug plan. That's why the AARP supports it, realizing that they may not find the bill 100% to their liking, but also that sometimes you get what you really want by compromising on things that matter less to you. The AARP is interested in a prescription drug plan, not in partisan posturing.

The Dems, OTOH, oppose it because they don't want the GOP to get credit for doing something on what they thought was one of THEIR pet issues and they're using the excuse of not liking some of the lesser items the GOP wanted in exchange for supporting the drug plan, like experiments in private enterprise solutions. Pretty easy to see if you aren't blinded by partisan rage and hate.
