John > International lawyers and anti-war campaigners reacted with astonishment yesterday after the influential Pentagon hawk Richard Perle conceded that the invasion of Iraq had been illegal.

I'm astounded, but I don't believe he made that statement from religious convictions. As one of the principal architects of the Project for the New American Century, ie the neocon power dream, he's far too "secular" and pragmatic to allow religion to get in the way of fulfilling his desires unless, of course, like W & Co, he can use the facade of religion to further his ends. Indeed, the fact that he doesn't care much for the law exposes his true character as an anarchist or maybe even a psychopath. Clearly, he is driven by ambition and fantasy and the belief that the end justifies the means --- not forgetting his lust for power and importance.

I suppose he is intelligent, in a perverse kind of way, like a fox is intelligent.
