I hunt the net for pieces of stories, and Afghanistan hasn't been forgotten

There's even this from Afghanistan:

Survey: Afghans Overwhelmingly Optimistic

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) -- Afghans in relatively stable areas of the country are overwhelmingly optimistic about the future of their nation, despite continued violence and political uncertainty, according to a survey released Wednesday.

Some 83 percent of the Afghans surveyed said they feel safer than they did three years ago, when the hard-line Taliban regime was in power. More than three-quarters of those questioned said Afghanistan will be safer still in another year.

I have no choice but to trust those in the CIA ... who are hunting OBL. Nor do you.

Anyone who thinks they have no choice but to trust gov't without constant proof have given up their duty of citizenship. Eternal vigilance means against enemies both foreign and domestic. Our major enemies are mostly domestic. The only thing that will root them out is complete and full disclosure of the public's business, and anyone who stonewalls that is as guilty as the perpetrators.

Considering their massive failures, before, during, and after 9/11, it's not wise to support gov't without massive scrutiny. Obviously, "hunting OBL" doesn't mean bombing nation-states where he doesn't exist, yet that's just one on an entire list we're told to believe.

I've found that unthinking trust of this gov't (or any gov't) likely has an ulterior motive, imo, either fear, support for some special interest or monthly income from the gov't.

The Framers' main goal was a gov't structure that would not avoid scrutiny. They knew that was the road to tyranny.

"Tyranny" is well-defined as the condition you inadvertantly describe where gov't says to citizens "Trust me", followed by, "you have no choice".

I agree on this: that's exactly the situation our gov't is attempting to impose on us.
