Industry Leading Disk Recording Technology Makes Capturing a Thing of the Past

TOKYO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 20, 2003--FOCUS Enhancements Inc. (Nasdaq:FCSE - News), a worldwide leader in video production and conversion technology, today announced that it will be showcasing its line of FireStore products featuring DTE Technology in the Hoei Sangyo (#7105) and Victor Company of Japan (JVC - #4100) booths at Interbee 2003. DTE Technology is the only disk recording solution that completely eliminates the ingest stage of video production including capturing, file transfer and file conversion, prior to editing. DTE Technology Program Partners include, Victor Company of Japan (JVC), Ikegami, RGB Spectrum, WiebeTech and Glyph Technologies.

"DTE Technology is quickly developing into the popular standard for disk based acquisition and production," said Ferdinand Stoer, asia/pacific sales manager for FOCUS Enhancements. "The time saving and efficiency benefits combined with a continually growing list of supported applications and source equipment have lead DTE Technology to become widely accepted."

DTE Technology is the only solution available that allows DV video, audio and timecode to be recorded directly to removable FireWire disk drives in native NLE file formats such as DV-OMF for Avid Xpress DV/Pro and NewsCutter, QuickTime for Apple Final Cut, AVI 2 for Adobe Premiere and Sony Vegas Video, Canopus AVI, Matrox AVI and more. Native NLE file formats allow video professionals to eliminate the need to capture, transfer files or convert files before editing -- saving on average over 25 hours(1) a month.

The latest member of the FOCUS Enhancements' FireStore product family with DTE Technology is FS-2. FS-2 is ideal for studio, outside broadcast, industrial and government applications. In addition to its DTE capabilities, FireStore FS-2 features a host of analog and digital A/V inputs and outputs, signal transcoding capabilities and extensive playback functions. The camcorder mountable FireStore FS-3 which brings DTE Technology to DV camcorders from Sony, Panasonic, Ikegami and Canon, features removable disk drives, retro cache/disk recording, rugged design and a host of features making it ideal for ENG, EFP and other portable applications. FireStore DR-DV5000, also a portable unit with removable disk drives, was designed for extensive integration with JVC DV camcorders.
