Hi Yiwu, And if you think the possible war has little to do with the US investors, you perhaps should think again. Of course, it all depends on how deep the US wants to be involved in this. Personally, I doubt the US has much "energy" left for now What I meant when I said that "a war between China and Taiwan would make little difference to investors" was that no matter where in China or Taiwan that investors held positions, those positions would be hurt. No winners in a war, only losers... Some lose less than others... Regarding USA support of Taiwan, I doubt that it would happen, other than rhetoric. The USA made a choice back in the late 1970's when diplomatic relations with China shifted from Taiwan to mainland China, and though no one wants war, perhaps it is inevitable that war will come to pass in order to reunite China into one nation. I don't know. What happens will happen when it happens. KJC

<I doubt the US has much "energy" left for now<g> > Yiwu, you shouldn't misunderestimate the energy of the USA nor the determination of President Bush or successors to defend the free world, nor their ability to do so. They haven't even got warmed up. They have lots of energy to spare. Especially marine and aviation. Not to mention other stuff which people consider unmentionable but is very effective when push comes to shove. Mqurice
