Here is another article on the production.
I hope he was fired, I think he should be concentrating on batteries not producing films.

BACKGROUNDER

INDIAN FILM PRODUCTION IN CANADA

Renowned Indian film director Vidhu Vinod Chopra and his production company Vinod Chopra Productions will shoot its latest feature film, The Fifth Move, in Vancouver in 2003. The production is the first English-language Hollywood film made by an Indian director.

The film is a thriller based on a game of chess. Mr. Chopra will direct the film, which he has co-written with playwright Abhijat Joshi and screenwriter Suketu Mehta. The international cast includes the well-known Indian actor Amitabh Bachchan. The executive producers of the film are Vir Chopra and Subhash Dhar.

Mr. Chopra, a native of Kashmir, is a graduate of the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune. His most notable films include Parinda, 1942: A Love Story and Kareeb. He was nominated for an Academy Award for his short film Encounter With Faces, the first Indian film to receive such an honour. His most recent film is Mission Kashmir.

Over the last few years, numerous Hindi film productions have been shot at Canadian locations. The large Indo-Canadian communities in Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto allow Indian producers to hire many secondary actors, dancers, crews and services for their productions. Canada’s well-developed film infrastructure also offers cost-effective, state-of-the-art equipment and processing facilities.
