If you want/need 64 bits, you can get it from Sun (or IBM), and have been able to for years.

Folks just now getting around to 64 bits are very LATE adopters.

JMHO.

Only the EARLIEST of ADOPTERS are just approaching in the on-deck circle...It's not even top of the first...it's the PRE GAME show....

Sure for Linux this is true but where does that leave Itanic, a product that has been available for years with no takers?

when customers haven't even stepped up to the 64 bit plate.

Sun has been shipping 64-bit equipment for quite a while. This is well beyond "EARLIEST of ADOPTERS" in the server space. As for desktops... How many millions of Apple G5s do you think will ship before Intel gets off its but.

64-bit is only new/early for intel. Other manufacturers are shipping real product now.
