Jay must be salivating about all the possible outcomes of this saber rattling. I wonde which contry in the world would test missiles across the skies of its biggest foreign investor :-)

But again, the chinese are special people. The more I know them the more I like them.

Snowshoe, I'm paying a lot of tax in the USA and it's to fund civilization of the world, though I don't have a say in how it's spent. I want USS Ronald Raygun sailing the 7 seas keeping criminals in line. Saddam's been done [more or less], same with Omar. If the USA goes off the rails, I'll withdraw my investments. I vote with my feet.

China's trying it on verbally, to see what the outcome is likely to be. If they don't get told to back off, the USA will have to accept Taiwan is taken over by China, which is not a land of freedom and democracy. That'll make life that much harder for everyone.

I think the USA will do as previously and sail one or two carrier fleets through the straits between Taiwan and China as a warning that the USA won't take kindly to China's militaristic adventures. I'm in favour of a few USA tariffs on China's exports to show them what else will happen if they get stroppy.

What consequences will China offer? They'll refuse to supply things Made in China? Refuse to buy NZ's sheep? Refuse to buy CDMA? Do without mobile cyberspace? Steal the intellectual property and be cut out of the WTO and face sanctions from the USA? Cut off their nose to spite their face?

They will learn that civilization beats militarism. The Japanese tried expanding their empire militarily. Look what happened to them. China is ill-advised to try it on.

It's a small world. I'm a paid up UN member and I'm not in favour of China causing carnage and mayhem. I'm also in favour of a reconstitution of the UN to reflect 21st century geopolitics.

I'm happy to act as a free counseling service for China on the likely consequences of an attack on Taiwan.

We the Sheeple have spake! Angry sheeple baring their teeth is a fearful sight.
