a lot of the death and destruction that has occurred in technology these last few years is due to the lethargic offerings coming out of wintel imho. Companies just saw no reason whatsoever to upgrade. They sat on win98 and NT for 4+ years. There is real hesitation to upgrade to the new office products because it can mean adopting an entire .net infrastructure. Instead of telling customers what they do or don't need, and complaining about California taxes, Barrett and company should be trying to build better products than the competition, wow what a concept. Not that I'm saying Sun doesn't have the same issues mind you. But for all the accolades showered on Intel constantly by the analysts, they sure have a mediocre product portfolio.
