CD-Rs disks

Write only, can erase or rewrite. Cheaper. Faster write speeds. If you save .wav files on them they will be playable on most CD players.

CD-RW disks

Can be written to and erased or written over. Slower. More expensive. Many CD players and some old CR-ROM drives can not read CD-RW disks.

CD-RW drives can burn either CD-R disks or CD-RW disks. CD-R drives can only burn to CD-R disks.
