AARP is reportedly losing members by the droves for their support of Bush's Medicare plan which gives HMO's and drug companies just about everything they could ever dream of. AARP is also getting a huge kickback since they insure many seniors. Bill Frist's brother runs a major HMO so that's one huge conflict of interest. Many conservatives are against it as a huge budget-busting boondoggle and "socialistic" giveaway. I wonder how many have refused to take $$$ from the insurers and Pharmas. John Kerry has.
John Kerry and Dems are standing up against it because it's a huge giveaway to the insurance and drug companies which will eventualy weaken Medicare. Very complicated issue, but those are my layman's observations.
