Yes, it was 28 pilots, but 4 or 500 refusniks altogehter. But that was before the escalation in the Spring of 2002, since then the movement has gone nowhere much.

Well obviously it does. It is a game of wills on both sides, and each side watches the other, and makes the most of any sign it can get that the other side is cracking.

But the military mutiny is striking. It could never be termed mere "insubordination" in the US. They would be court-marshalled immed.

Yes, the US is much stricter about officers expressing political opinions than Israel is.
