Makes perfect sense to me Karen. I lived in Japan a couple of years in the eightees and became very impressed with their culture.

I also believe that in many ways at their core, they are the closest culture in the world next to Britain to the United States.

1. They are nationalistic and proud of their country like many Americans. I use nationalism in the positive sense, instead of the negative one we see mentioned in the press.
2. They are capitalistic and believe in meeting the needs of customers.
3. They work together well in order to achieve important objectives.
4. They believe in marriage and family.
5. They have a culture which trusts people enough to allow professional management to come in when a company becomes so large the family can no longer handle it.

And damn, the place just works, trains on time etc...

There are many difference of course, especially in the area of mulitculturalism. Let's face it, many Japanese are racist. But I'm hopeful they will eventually mature out of that nonsense.
