Your post was not addressed to me ("how did US react"), but it seemed pretty muted to me...partly, maybe, due to Bush staying out of path (for most part)....which he did in Australia as well..

Actually, I think the general news focus is more on the daily bombings, smattering of "recovery gaining steam/there is a recovery" and various personal interest, sports, and the Dems battle for a candidate.

In all honestly, US (and US public opinion) has never really given a damn about foreign protests, and I don't expect they will now...but they do care about pictures of babies dying/death of US soldiers abroad....that (eventually) can change public opinion (and has somewhat already)
